Sihnuu, a Washington, D.C. native, has always had an affinity for creative expression. Since childhood, she found enjoyment in the art of movement. As Sihnuu's passion for creative expression blossomed, she learned new forms of expression and was drawn to the practice of yoga after her first yoga class in 2007 with Ausarian Yoga Master, Kwesi Karamoko. She explored open dialogue with her body on the mat and soon discovered she was receiving more than just a workout. Her quest for spiritual ascension led her to a greater understanding of Universal truths as it related to the mind, body, and spirit. Fully committed to the practice, Sihnuu decided to take her journey to the next level after the passing of her son in 2011. Self care became an essential tool for her as she grieved her loss. She used her practice to transform tragedy to triumph and was determined to dive deep within herself to find everything she needed for success. Her love for yoga soon inspired her to share the healing art with others in need of a way to reconnect to internal peace.
In 2011 she began teaching community classes throughout D.C. and surrounding areas. By 2012 she completed her first 200hr Hatha Certification and soon after was invited to a second 200hr *training/certification, under Kemetic yoga master, Yirser Ra Hotep. She is well versed in Vinyasa Yoga, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga catering to Trauma sensitive and underserved populations. Sihnuu is trained in formats including: C1 (Beginners Vinyasa), C2 (Intermediate Vinyasa), Hot Power Fusion, and Sculpt (yoga with cardio and weights). In 2013 she started D.C.'s Karma Yoga Brunch, an event that gave back to select Charity Organizations both in the area and nationwide.
Through her love for community and self-development, she felt inspired and created a six week Yoga Enrichment Program for school aged children and adults. In 2015 she took her understanding of yoga in the direction of psycho- spirituality while studying for her 500 hour in Yoga Therapy and Stress Transformation.
With her knowledge, Sihnuu hopes to serve as a guide to those looking to gain greater understanding of self and ways to cultivate a self sustainable healing module. Since training her ultimate goal has been to is to serve students by helping them find the mind body balance and internal peace on the mat which can be practically integrated into their everyday lives.
Her class delivers an invigorating yogic blend of prana, asana, centering techniques, and affirmations of power. She uses classic and modern styles of yoga to create customized sequences that serve students from all walks of life. She is inspired by the wild woman teachings of Dr. Pinkola Estes as well as those of B.K.S Iyengar, Sri Pattabhi Jois, Thich Nhat Hạnh, Sri Dharma Mittra and many more.
Sihnuu teaches throughout the D.C. area and seamlessly transitions from the yoga mat to expressing her creativity through dance, writing, cooking, and exploring various art forms. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, Yazi Blu, traveling, learning about new cultures, and meeting new people.
